Effect of Divided Exhaust Period in a High Efficiency TGDI Engine

The divided exhaust period (DEP) concept was applied to a high-efficiency gasoline engine and its impact on various performance aspects were investigated. To this end, key design parameters of DEP components optimized through 1-D simulation. designed fabricated experimental verification performed an dynamometer test. developed shows suitable for electrified vehicles, with maximum thermal efficiency 42.5% as well wide sweet spot area over 40%. improvement in mainly due reduction pumping loss.
